Kristian Stenslie, Filmmaker
Originally from Mandan, ND, Kristian Stenslie fell in love with filmmaking and storytelling when he got his first “flip cam” camcorder at 11 years old. Though he started off creating silly “NERF War” shootout-style videos with his brother and friends, he soon developed a particular interest in stop motion animation. Primarily using LEGO bricks and minifigures as his subjects, he found that the medium enabled him to tell any story he wished. Relishing this creative freedom, he embarked on a journey of extended world building, storytelling, and filmmaking that culminated in the production of his largest project ever: Grey Horizons, a feature-length “brickfilm” that premiered in the Fargo Theater in the summer of 2023 and can currently be streamed on Amazon Prime. Part of this film and many of his older works can be found on his YouTube channel “Twisted Bricks”, which surpassed 100,000 subscribers in January 2023.
Working as a substitute teacher during the day, Kristian spends the rest of his time pursuing his passions of filmmaking, videography, and photography. Though he studied biology at Concordia College (where he regrettably only took one film class), he is a dedicated lifelong learner of all things filmmaking and is accustomed to wearing many hats in a production.
Kristian currently lives in Fargo and is working hard on The Hunger of Slag, a sequel to Grey Horizons.
