The Producers Guild Awards Nominations Further Solidify the Oscar Race

Amazon and Netflix lead all other studios with nominations for the 32nd Producers Guild of America Awards. Each streamer received three nominations in the field of ten nominees that make up the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.

Often seen as a major indicator of the films that will make up the Oscar race for Best Picture, the PGA Awards are voted on by members of the Producers Guild.

The films that received nominations include awards season favorites like “Nomadland” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”. Surprisingly, the comedy sequel “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” earned a nod, giving it a major bump as Oscar voting continues this week. Noticeably absent from the lineup are “Da 5 Bloods” and “News of the World”.

The 32nd Producers Guild of America Awards will take place virtually on Wednesday, March 24.
