3rd NDFS Awards: ‘The Power of the Dog’ Named Best Picture

The 3rd North Dakota Film Society Awards celebrate the best achievements in cinema of 2021. For eligibility, members of NDFS considered all films released in the calendar year in at least one cinema in North Dakota or on a largely accessible streaming service, in addition to those made available for consideration to members of the society between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021.

With 8 wins, including Best Picture, Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog” earned the most wins of any film this year. That number of wins also sets a new record for NDFS Awards wins for a single film.

The only other films to earn multiple wins this year are “Dune” (Best Visual Effects and Best Sound) and “Flee” (Best International Feature and Best Documentary Feature).

Thank you to our members: educators, cinema owners, filmmakers, and journalists located across the Peace Garden State. North Dakota is a unique landscape of incredible artistic voices, perspectives, and experiences. We look forward to the new cinema headed our way in 2022!
