2021 Annie Awards Nominate ‘Soul’, ‘Wolfwalkers’

Disney/Pixar’s “Soul”, which currently serves as the frontrunner for the animation category at the Oscars, and Apple/GKIDS’s “Wolfwalker” earned the most nominations for the 48th Annie Awards.
Of the studios nominated, Netflix came out on top with 40 nominations across all of its projects, including six nominations each for “The Willoughbys” and “Over the Moon”.
In addition to award winners, animation designer Willie Ito will be presented with the Winsor McCay Award for career contributions to animation. Bruce Smith and the late Sue Nichols will also be celebrated. Co-founder of Tonko House, Daisuke “Dice” Tsutsumi, will be given the June Foray Award for benevolent or charitable impact on the animation industry. Epic Games will receive the Ub Iwerks Award for technical advancement for the development of its Unreal Engine real-time3D creation tool. A Special Achievement Award will be given to “Howard”, a documentary about the late Howard Ashman.
The 48th Annie Awards will be held virtually on April 16.
