MSUM Alum Joins Award-Winning Production of ‘Home.’

MSUM Film Production alum Andrew Leines joins the production team of the award-winning documentary series, Home: The Homelessness Crisis in North Dakota. Leins will be joining the post-production team as Lead Editor for the series.
Leines is a Fargo-based video editor and filmmaker who began making movies with his little brother while growing up in Wisconsin. Though the first few single-take films had charm, the quality vastly improved upon discovering video editing software, when editing quickly became his favorite part of the filmmaking process. He continued making and screening films with his friends through high school and went on to graduate from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2017 with a degree in Film Production and Writing.
Since graduation, he has continued to work in a variety of jobs on several films with his former classmates and other artists, with many works shown at festivals nationwide and many yet to come.
Leines is proud to join The Human Family to help spread awareness and normalize the conversation about homelessness by editing the documentary series “Home.” He hopes to help the team at The Human Family honor those who face homelessness in North Dakota and assist in changing the harmful perceptions that persist.
"Home." is produced by The Human Family, a North Dakota nonprofit dedicated to promoting human rights and social justice through film and art.
“Home.” is a limited-series documenting the homelessness crisis in North Dakota. Understanding housing as a human right and as an inherent need to the health and happiness of all persons, the series examines the myths of homelessness, the individuals impacted, the causes and the community response to the epidemic.
The series aims to dispel the myths surrounding homelessness and raise the visibility of what Louis McLeod, Executive Director of the Minot Area Homeless Coalition, calls the “invisible crisis” in North Dakota. The story is told through the eyes of individuals who have personally experienced homelessness and the organizations throughout North Dakota working to end the epidemic. To date, the series has been recognized with four international awards.
The multi-part series is presented by the Consensus Council, the Fargo Moorhead Coalition to End Homelessness, and the Missouri Valley Coalition for Homeless People; and made possible by Bell Bank, Fargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Family Health Care, and the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition.
