Marcus Theatres Offers Vaccinated-Only Screenings
BY SCOTTIE KNOLLIN
Marcus Theatres announced this week it will begin offering movie screenings limited to only those who have received their COVID-19 vaccinations at its West Acres Cinema in Fargo. The first screenings will take place Friday, January 21.
The vaccine-only screenings will be offered each day for two films at two different times. Those who are unvaccinated are still allowed to attend screenings at the theater, but will not be allowed entry into the vaccinated-only screenings. The vaccine-only screenings will be labeled as such on the Marcus Theatres website and app. The first vaccine-only screenings include those for “Scream” and “Redeeming Love.”
In order to attend vaccine-only screenings, guests will be required to show a proof of vaccination and a photo identification. As is customary following CDC guidelines, gusts are considered fully vaccinated if they are two weeks removed from the second Pfizer or Moderna vaccine shot or the first Johnson & Johnson vaccine shot.
According to Marcus Theatres, the vaccine requirement will apply to all guests wishing to attend a vaccine-only screening, regardless of age. There is no option for guests who are unvaccinated but show a negative test result.
Marcus Theatres tested vaccine-only screenings at a small group of theaters in November, which resulted in positive feedback.
West Acres Cinema will program vaccine-only screenings for films that have multiple scheduled screenings on multiple screens. The lineup will change weekly. At this time, the West Acres Cinema is the only Marcus Theatres location in North Dakota that will host vaccine-only screenings. If demand is high, Marcus Theatres will considered extending the offerings to Fargo’s Century Cinema.
