Nominations: 2020 British Independent Film Awards
BY SCOTTIE KNOLLIN
A24’s psychological horror film, “Saint Maud”, leads the nominations for the 2020 British Independent Film Awards. In addition to being nominated for Best British Independent Film, the movie racked up 16 other nominations, including one for its star, Morfydd Clark. A24 has yet to announced the North American release plans for “Saint Maud”.
Following “Saint Maud” is Remi Weekes’ “His House”, currently available to stream on Netflix. The thriller is also up for Best British Independent Film.
Among notable individual nominees is Anthony Hopkins. The acting legend is nominated for his first-ever Bifa for his lead work in “The Father”. Riz Ahmed is nominated in four separate categories: best actor, debut screenwriter, and best screenplay for “Mogul Mowgli” and best shot film for “The Long Goodbye”.
The winners will be announced in a yet-to-be-determined ceremony in February.
