SHIRLEY
Neon released an official trailer late last week for Josephine Decker’s latest film “Shirley” starring Elisabeth Moss as the writer Shirley Jackson. The trailer shows Shirley’s husband inviting a young couple to come and stay with them while they get settled in with their new jobs at a nearby college. Shirley and her husband seem to be having their own fun by manipulating the couple, but the extent of the manipulation is not fully revealed. Reviews of the film from the Sundance Film Festival were overwhelmingly positive as it won an award there for Auteur Filmmaking. The rest of the cast includes Michael Stuhlbarg, Logan Lerman, Odessa Young, Steve Vinovich and Adelind Horan. It will be released directly to VOD on June 5th.

BECKY
Quiver Distribution launched a trailer for “Becky”, described as an “action horror thriller” starring Kevin James as a neo-Nazi. Lulu Wilson stars as Becky, a teenage girl who is going on a relaxing trip with her father to their lake cabin. However, relaxation is not what they get. Instead, a gang of neo-Nazis, led by James, begins to torture the family as they look for a certain key that Becky has in her possession. Becky then has no choice but to fight back in order to save her family. The film also stars Joel McHale, Amanda Brugel, Robert Maillet and Ryan McDonald. As shown in the trailer, Wilson comes off as a more sinister version of Kevin McCallister from “Home Alone”, which could be quite entertaining. “Becky” comes out on June 5th.

THE KING OF STATEN ISLAND
A trailer for “The King of Staten Island” was released by Universal Pictures and truly mirrors the real life of star Pete Davidson. Scott (Davidson) has battled his entire life with losing his father who died at his job as a firefighter. He’s an aspiring tattoo artist that mellows his pain by smoking a lot of weed. He’s stuck in a rut, to put it lightly, and plans to live at home with his mom forever. Scott’s mother begins dating a firefighter and it seems that this puts him on a path to follow in his father’s footsteps. This great cast includes Marisa Tomei, Bill Burr, Maude Apatow, Bel Powley, Pamela Adlon, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Tatro, Kevin Corrigan, Machine Gun Kelly and Moises Arias. “The King of Staten Island” seems to deliver the charm that can only come from a Judd Apatow project. This one is going on the watch list. It’s being released on VOD June 12th.
