3rd NDFS Awards Dates Set; New Categories Added

The North Dakota Film Society will bestow its best-of prizes for the 2021 cinema season on Monday, January 17, 2022. Nominations will be announced the previous Monday, January 10, 2022.
To be eligible, a film must meet at least one of these three eligibility requirements:
Must be released in a cinema in Bismarck, Fargo, or Grand Forks between January 1 and December 31, 2021.
Must be released on a major streaming platform between January 1 and December 31, 2021.
Must qualify for the Academy Awards and made available to screen to members of NDFS between January 1 and December 31, 2021.
In addition to the confirmed dates, the 3rd NDFS Awards will include 4 new categories:
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS
BEST SOUND
BEST COSTUME DESIGN
BEST MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING
With the addition of the new categories, the annual NDFS Awards celebrate achievements in film in 19 categories (previous winners noted in parenthesis):
BEST PICTURE (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood;” “Nomadland”)
BEST DIRECTOR (Bong Joon Ho, “Parasite;” Chloé Zhao, “Nomadland”)
