The upcoming 35th American Film Institute’s AFI Fest will feature the world premiere of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Tick, Tick…Boom!” as the opening night feature.
2021 AFI Fest runs November 10 through November 14 in a hybrid format, featuring both in-person screenings and events in Los Angeles and virtual screenings.

“Tick, Tick…Boom” is Miranda’s feature directorial debut. The film is an adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical written before he went on to create “Rent.” Andrew Garfield leads the cast, which also includes Alexandra Shipp, Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, Mj Rodriguez, Bradley Whitford, and Tariq Trotter. Judith Light and Vanessa Hudgens are also in the cast.
Following the world premiere screening, the film will release in select theaters on November 12 and begin streaming on Netflix on November 19.
