‘The Green Knight,’ ‘Pig,’ and ‘The Lost Daughter’ Lead 2021 Gotham Awards Nominations
BY SCOTTIE KNOLLIN
Traditionally, the Gotham Awards are the first prominent awards ceremony to announce nominations each awards season. This year, for the 31st Gotham Awards, the nominees are a mix of expected awards season darlings and smaller indies hoping to break through.
To be eligible for the Gotham Awards, a film’s budget cannot exceed $35 million, which means films like “The Power of the Dog” and “Don’t Look Up” didn’t qualify. For the former, director Jane Campion will still be feted with the Gotham’s Director’s Tribute award. Additionally, Kristen Stewart will be celebrated with the Performer Tribute, Eamonn Bowles will receive the Industry Tribute, and the cast of “The Harder They Fall” will be recognized with the Ensemble Tribute.
New this year, the Gotham Awards moved away from gendered acting categories, opting instead for Outstanding Lead Performance and Outstanding Supporting Performance categories.
To pick nominees, a committee of film critics, industry members, and others vote for up to 10 nominees in each category.
The 31st Gotham Awards will take place Monday, November 29, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
