Fargo Docs Season 3 Presents Top Notch Lineup

Fargo Docs, a documentary film series presented by Tellwell Story Co. + Studio, lights up the historic Fargo Theatre with its third season of programming beginning January 11. Fargo Docs is championing the art of film to raise awareness, challenge perspectives, and inspire audiences by making highly-regarded documentaries accessible to the Fargo community.

Each film screens at 7:00 p.m. at the Fargo Theatre. Tickets are available at the Fargo Theatre or online.

Teton Gravity Research: Magic Hour

SYNOPSIS: Magic hour is not so much a particular time of day as a culmination of powerful moments in some of the most beautiful, wild places on the planet. For 27 years, Teton Gravity Research has been searching for the right place with the right crew at the perfect time to experience life at its fullest. Between the thrill of the hunt and the peace of floating down a mountain, the sum of our experiences becoming greater than its parts is what we seek. SYNOPSIS: Alvin Ailey was a trailblazing pioneer who found salvation through dance. AILEY traces the full contours of this brilliant and enigmatic man whose search for the truth in movement resulted in enduring choreography that centers on the Black American experience with grace, strength, and unparalleled beauty. Told through Ailey’s own words and featuring evocative archival footage and interviews with those who intimately knew him, director Jamila Wignot weaves together a resonant biography of an elusive visionary.

SYNOPSIS: Academy Award-winner Andrea Arnold returns with an intimate portrait of one dairy cow’s life. The film highlights the beauty and challenges cows face, and their great service to us all.

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed

SYNOPSIS: Directed by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Laura Poitras, All the Beauty and the Bloodshed is an epic, emotional and interconnected story about internationally renowned artist and activist Nan Goldin told through her slideshows, intimate interviews, ground-breaking photography, and rare footage of her personal fight to hold the Sackler family accountable for the overdose crisis.

Winner of the Venice Film Festival Golden Lion (the first-ever documentary to win the fest’s top prize) and the National Board of Review’s Freedom of Expression award. The film has also received a number of prominent award nominations and is short-listed for the upcoming 95th Academy Awards.
