North Dakota Film Society’s Oscar De Leon and musical artist Lorena Wise have introduced a new podcast, Talking Shit, produced in the Fargo area. The duo prides themselves on being local artists and champions for the arts communities across North Dakota.

On the podcast, the first episode of which premiered this week, De Leon and Wise treat the airtime as the opportunity to get to know each other better and represent the things going on around the world from the casual perspective of two locals. De Leon, one half of Chamber Six Media, shared that the podcast was Wise’s idea. “On the show, we ask each other fun questions and let the conversation flow naturally out of the that. (The format) is really loose.” On the debut episode they cover a range of topics from personal struggles with things like De Leon selling his car and Wise’s adventures with CashApp.

Though on the surface, the premise of the show may seem like fun fare, Talking Shit serves another purpose entirely. De Leon explained, “On a personal level, I see the opportunity to embrace and highlight diversity through this project and use my resources to help young artists like myself get started on projects they feel proud about. My role on the podcast is as a co-host, but I’m mainly a producer/editor supporting Lorena’s bigger vision and helping facilitate a safe space to operate out of.”
