THE GREEN KNIGHT

Director David Lowery (A Ghost Story, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints) is going medieval with The Green Knight, a re-telling of a classic Arthurian tale. The original story involves a “Green Knight” challenging a knight of King Arthur’s Round Table, Sir Gawain, to strike him with his axe. The catch? The “Green Knight” gets to give a return blow a year and a day later. It is unclear if the film will follow the original story, but the teaser includes an eerie Green Knight along with some possible foreboding with the decapitation of a puppet to an alley filled with shocked onlookers. Dev Patel leads an impressive cast as Gawain and is joined by Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Ralph Ineson as the Green Knight and Sean Harris as King Arthur. It is scheduled to be released in late May.

THE FRENCH DISPATCH

The trailer for Wes Anderson’s tenth feature was released by Searchlight Pictures earlier this week and is oozing with the director’s distinctive style. The French Dispatch is the title of the film and also the name of the magazine featured in Anderson’s love letter to journalism. The trailer shows a collection of stories from each of the characters who are stationed at a French outpost for the American publication. The phenomenal ensemble cast includes Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Elisabeth Moss, Lea Seydoux, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Christoph Waltz, Tilda Swinton, Liev Schreiber, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Benicio Del Toro. You will see it hit screens in the U.S. starting July 24, 2020.

THE HUNT

The Hunt was scheduled to open in theaters last fall, but was sent to release limbo after some thought the film would be too offensive for audiences. Universal has taken those complaints and are using them to market the film with its second trailer. Director Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah, Compliance) crafts a thriller involving twelve complete strangers being thrown into “A Gory Battle Royale.” Ike Barinholtz, Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, Glenn Howerton, Amy Madigan, Macon Blair, Steve Oulter, Ethan Suplee, amd Hilary Swank make up the ensemble cast for this “Sick Murder Fantasy.” The film will be released in a month on March 13, 2020. Until then, check out the second trailer for this “Disturbance to Our Country.”
