‘Titanic’ Returns to Cinemas for 25th Anniversary
BY SCOTTIE KNOLLIN
James Cameron’s epic romance will hit the big screen again, 25 years after it first set box office records.
“Titanic,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as ill-fated lovers aboard the famed ship, held the number one box office spot for 15 straight weeks after its release in late 1997. It eventually became the highest-grossing film of all time, with $2.2 billion worldwide. That record was finally broken in 2009 with Cameron’s “Avatar.”
In addition to setting box office records, the film won a record-tying 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. “Ben-Hur” is the only other film to win that many Oscars in a single year.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the film will be screened in 3D 4K HDR with high-frame rate beginning February 10, 2023. In addition to this restored version of the film, overseen by Cameron, to celebrate its rerelease, there is a new trailer and poster.
Showtimes in North Dakota will be announced soon.
