PENINSULA
Well Go’s trailer for “Peninsula” brings us back to the world of “Train to Busan”, only it’s four years in the future. The Korean sequel shows a completely desolate world overrun by flesh hungry zombies. The film follows survivor Jung-seok, who discovers a group of people who have survived the apocalypse up to this point. Based on what looks like a battle sequence with a group of zombies arranged as some type of arachnid, it’s likely Jung-seok finds out not all survivors are well-natured. “Train to Busan” director Yeon Sang-ho returns with a cast led by Gang Dong-won and Lee Jung-hyun. This epic sequel is set to arrive in the U.S. later this year.

LOVE WEDDING REPEAT
Netflix has released a trailer for a film they describe as an “innovative romantic comedy” called “Love Wedding Repeat”. It makes total sense if you get “Death at a Funeral” vibes from this trailer as it is based on a French film by the same writer. Sam Claflin stars as Jack, the brother of the bride who is attempting to make sure his sister’s wedding day is executed without any hiccups. Of course this is impossible due to such factors as an ex-girlfriend, potent sedatives and a lifelong crush. The rest of the cast includes  Olivia Munn, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joel Fry, Tim Key, Aisling Bea, Jack Farthing, Allan Mustafa and Freida Pinto. Find out the conclusion to this romping comedy when it is released on Netflix April 10th.

TO THE STARS
Indie drama “To the Stars” released a trailer this week after showing at 30 film festivals internationally and even winning a directing award at 2019’s Cinetopia Film Festival. The story follows the introverted farmer’s daughter Iris, played by Kara Hayward, who is constantly under ridicule from those in her rural Oklahoma town. When impulsive new girl Maggie, played by Liana Liberato, shows up and befriends Iris, the two young women form a bond and shake things up in their community. The rest of the cast includes Jordana Spiro, Shea Whigham, Malin Akerman, Tony Hale and Adelaide Clemens. I was able to screen the film in its original B&W format at the 2019 Fargo Film Festival and it is the performances that make this story so memorable. See it in color when it is released later this month on VOD.
