RUN

In the trailer for Aneesh Chaganty’s (“Searching”) second feature film “Run”, paranoia is cranked to eleven. The Lionsgate film features Sarah Paulson as a mother of a homeschooled girl named Chloe, played by Kiera Allen. When Chloe begins to suspect that her mother is harboring a dark secret, she plans to figure things out on her own. The intensity builds throughout the trailer bringing back memories of Rob Reiner’s 1990 film “Misery”. By the time the trailer comes to a close, wherever Chloe turns she is prompted to “run” from her mother’s isolation. You can experience a mother’s love opening, appropriately, on Mother’s Day weekend.

DREAM HORSE

The inspiring trailer for “Dream Horse” was released this week by Bleecker Street and tells the true story of a racehorse owned by a group of friends in a tiny Welsh village. Toni Collette leads the cast as Jan Vokes, a villager that becomes the breeder of their underdog horse. The villagers’ horse begins to inch closer to a championship in the ‘sport of kings’ battling against the sport’s most elite. The same story was told in a documentary from 2015 titled “Dark Horse”. Collette is joined by Damian Lewis, Howard Davies, Joanna Page, Nicholas Farrell, Peter Davison, Sian Phillips and Owen Teale. This delightful looking film is released on May 1, 2020.

VIVARIUM

An official UK trailer has been released for “Vivarium” starring Jesse Eisenberg, Imogen Poots and Jonathan Aris. This sci-fi indie tells the story of a young couple hunting for the “ideal” place to call their home. The search leads them to a maze-like neighborhood of cookie cutter style homes that they can’t escape. The couple then discovers a box outside of their house containing a baby. Years pass as they raise the child who seemingly has no concept of alone time as well as a uniquely horrifying scream. The couple’s mental state begins to unravel setting up for a thrilling, possibly sinister, conclusion to the narrative. The film will be released in theaters on March 27, 2020.
