THE LAST BLOCKBUSTER

Pop Motion Pictures has released a trailer for their indie documentary called “The Last Blockbuster”. The film’s trailer reignites the nostalgia of video rental stores by highlighting the last Blockbuster store located in Bend, OR. It documents the rise and fall of video stores and how this final location stood strong when all others were fizzling out fast. It stars the manager of the lone Blockbuster store, Sandi Harding, along with an array of other interviews including Paul Scheer, Adam Brody, Doug Benson and Kevin Smith among others. There is currently no release date for this fun indie, but it is scheduled out later this year.

TRUE HISTORY OF THE KELLY GANG

The final trailer for “True History of the Kelly Gang” was released by IFC Films this week confirming that the film will hit U.S. screens in late April. The story centers on Ned Kelly, an Australian bush-ranger and gang leader. After being sold for 15 pounds by his mother at a young age, Kelly matures into a ruthless, blood-thirsty savage. When his mother gets arrested, Kelly begins plotting how he will break her free with the army he has created. George MacKay, from “1917”, plays Ned Kelly and Essie Davis stars as Kelly’s mother Ellen. The cast also includes Russell Crowe, Nicholas Hoult, Thomasin McKenzie, Sean Keenan, Earl Cave, Orlando Schwerdt and Charlie Hunnam. This legendary story is set to hit limited screens in the United States on April 24th.

INTERNATIONAL FALLS

Gravitas Ventures has released a trailer for promising filmmaker Amber McGinnis’s latest project called “International Falls”. The film is shot on location in the wintery tundra of International Falls, MN, and tells the story of a woman named Dee living a mundane life as a front desk clerk in the small border town. Dee seems to find her vocation in stand up comedy when a self-described “mediocre” comic named Tim comes to town for a couple of gigs at the hotel. It premiered last year at the Atlanta Film & Video Festival and has been screened at other festivals in Seattle and Nashville. It’s been described as melancholic, but also very satisfying. The charming indie stars comedian and actress Rachael Harris as Dee and Rob Huebel as the burned out comic Tim. It also includes Mindy Sterling, Erik Griffin, Matthew Glave and Kevin Nealon. The film will be released on VOD March 20th.
