From May 29 through June 7, more than 100 films will begin streaming for free on YouTube. Curated by twenty-one international festivals, including Sundance, Venice, and Toronto, the We Are One: A Global Film Festival is a direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic and how its affected film festivals worldwide.

Mumbai, Tokyo, Guadalajara, and Berlin are among the other film festivals that participated in curating the festival.

Tribeca Enterprises and YouTube jointly announced the full lineup, which features world premieres and online premieres. Among the more notable screenings are “Iron Hammer,” Joan Chen’s documentary about Chinese Olympic volleyball star Jenny Lang Ping, and “Eeb Allay Ooo!,” a satire from director Prateek Vats about professional monkey repellers in New Dehli.

Many of the films being made available are documentaries. “Ricky Powell: The Individualist” is a cinematic study of the legendary street photographer featuring interviews with Natasha Lyonne and LL Cool J.

Several short films are also part of the lineup. Dreamworks Animation will present its first ever film shorts: “Bilby,” “Marooned,” and “Bird Karma.”

The festival will also feature a VR section, series premieres, and special musical performances (like a 30-minute set by Questlove). Curated talks with filmmakers will also serve as highlights among the film screenings. Expect talks between film legends like Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Soderbergh, Song Kang-ho, Jane Campion, Claire Denis, and Bong Joon Ho.

On each film’s page, there will be a donate button to allow viewers to support organizations like WHO, UNICEF, and Doctors Without Borders.
